MEET MATT the stat

Matt

Sports Podcaster

I got my moniker "Matt the Stat" from a high school teacher who told me I have a "Sports Memory." I'm told I have a unique gift due to my knowledge of players, club history, the ability to memorize players' positions, jersey names, numbers, stats, personal stories, and trivia. I find this skill essential when comparing a team to its' opponent. Finally, I'm always looking for ways to connect sports and society. I like to end my show with an inspirational quote.

While at CLU, the campus radio station provided me with the opportunity to host 48 one hour shows over two years online at iCLURadio.com. At the same time, I produced podcast interviews with Cal Lu student/athletes, ranging from one to a group of six per podcast.

Other interests include playing tenor sax in jazz bands for ten years, culminating in a jazz band conducted by Leslie Drayton of the legendary "Earth, Wind and Fire." Growing up, I played baseball, basketball, and I lettered in Varsity HS Golf. I am a Taekwondo Black Belt and I enjoy playing in a men's softball league. You will have to listen to my show to figure out what my favorite sport is.

TESTIMONIALS

You have not come across anything like Matt Riddle, to date. He IS an endless database of sports facts and dates and for multiple semesters on the CLU campus station, "Matt the Stat" left little doubt. His voice, rhythm, confident knowledge, and relationship with the listener are worth listening to. I've also found a great deal of emotion associated with the sport and player being discussed comes across in his passion for sports journalism and broadcast. Solo or in a discussion his contribution to a sports conversation is truly remarkable. If you get him in a studio, the mild-mannered gentleman you will meet at first, will blow your socks off with his power and ability to carry and contribute to a broadcast.
